My CrossFit Beginnings

• Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you became interested in CrossFit?

I did a few CrossFit classes here and there, but it wasn't until I moved to Japan that I committed and fell in love with the sport. It was a great way for me to meet new people and improve my fitness.

• What inspired you to become a coach at MVMT Hub?

I loved coaching CrossFit in Japan, and when I moved back to Perth, it was all thanks to Jason for putting me on the path to be a coach at Hub.

Coaching Style, Highlights and Staying ahead of the Game

• How would you describe your coaching style?

I try to lead with kindness and empathy, by understanding that our members are people with lives outside of the gym. I hope that whilst ensuring their safety in class and that they have fun, they also get some personal value out of their session with me.

• Can you share a memorable moment or achievement in your coaching career?

There are also a lot of moments that stand out, but it's always the ah ha moments that members have when a cue I've given clicks and their movement improves or they learn a new skill. I love seeing how proud they are of themselves. It takes a lot to try something new or be consistent with practice. Being able to develop amazing relationships with members, seeing them grow and improve and helping them have the best hour of their day is what I love most.

• What do you find most rewarding about coaching?

Being able to play a small part in heglping people find enjoyment in physical activity, improve their health and make positive changes to their lives. 

• How do you plan to evolve or growas a coach at MVMT Hub?

Keep showing up for the members and learning new things, honing my craft.

Community and Culture

• What do you think sets MVMT Hub apart from other CrossFit gyms?

The programming is on a different level, it's considered and progressive which shows from all of the PB's our members get each block. Also, the attention to detail by all coaches sets us apart as everyone genuinely cares and loves being there.

 How would you describe the community at the MVMT Hub and how does it impact a members gym experience?

The members are positive, supportive and are always there to back each other up. There's a lot of love for each other and it makes it a really fun place to be part of.


• How do you contribute to building a positive and inclusive environment at the gym?

I try my best to a positive role model, especially to our “Hublets” (Kids class). This means listening, providing precise and useful feedback whilst motivating them.

Advice to Members

• Top tips for people looking to start their Crossfit/Health/Nutrition journey?

Take small steps towards the life you want to live. Be patient with yourself and have fun with it. Try not to put too many hard and fast rules on yourself, it's all about balance. It's all about nailing the basics most of the time, and giving yourself permission to enjoy the other 20%.

What do you believe people should search for in a CrossFit coach? *Take note aspiring coaches
Show that you care, be open to feedback and eager to learn as much as you can from the coaches around you. You also need to have the ability to build a good rapport with people and genuinely enjoy helping others.

Life outside the gym and other interesting facts

•Outside of the gym, what are your hobbies or passions?

Being creative in some way, whether that's taking photos or drawing. I also love cooking, reading and going to gigs.

• How do you balance your personal life with your professional responsibilities as a coach?

I work part time as a Digital Marketing Officer for a not for profit, coach at Hub and offer personal training. It's a juggle but I love the variety and that's what gives me energy.

• What are your personal and professional goals for the next year?

Just taking leaps, trying new things and not putting limits on myself.

• Can you share a fun or surprising fact about yourself that most gym members might not know?

I studied Fine Art at University before marketing.

• If you could have a workout session with any athlete or fitness icon, who would it be and why?

Maybe Annie Sakamoto - she seems like she's always having the best time, and is still leading an active life while also working and being a Mum.

“Nasty Girls” of the Nasty Girl WOD and has her own Benchmark workout “Annie” named after her.
